Refund Policy

Official Refund Policy: No Refunds!

(Effective August 2, 2003) The Official refund policy of our team is based on the rules imposed on the teams by the Hood To Coast management. Each team member pays an $80.00 registration fee in October that is not refundable, p-e-r-i-o-d. In addition, our team asks for $80.00 later in the year to cover the condo rental in Seaside, food, rewards for our volunteers, gas for the van drivers, etc. We ask for this after you've had lots of time to think about your comittment.

If you MUST leave the team after you've registered, and you need a refund, there's only one way to get it. You'll need to find someone to replace you. Then get them to write you a check for all the fees you've paid. Once you have accomplished that, notify the team & we can make the swap. In a way, you'll be "selling" your position on the team to your replacement.

If you don't find your replacement, there's nothing we can do. The Team Captain & the rest of us will have to scramble to fill the vacancy, and pay penalties besides.

Speaking of penalties: Yes, the Hood To Coast is pretty unforgiving. Here's their schedule: Substitution fees (from the hoodtocoast.com web site) Until June 2nd, Team additions are free and substitutions are $10. From June 3rd to August 15th, additions and substitutions are $15 per person. After August 15th they are $20 at the start ONLY, and not accepted by mail or by hand delivery. So if you have to leave the team after June 2nd, you'll ALSO have to include the penalty!

Sucks, huh? That's why we have to be harsh. Every year, there is a waiting list with hundreds of folks who want to get on a team. It's not fair to them to reserve a place on a team and then abandon it.

Worse yet, there are slots for only 1,000 running teams and 600 walking teams. We have to FIGHT all the others to get our registration accepted every year. It's not fair to the team to force us to fight to maintain our standing with the Hood To Coast management.
