Bus Trip July 16 – July 21 to Portland , OR

This year’s bus trip will include YREs in Glenns Ferry, Hood River , Vancouver , Portland , Bend and Boise .  We plan to visit Multnomah Falls and depending upon the time spent there, we may have time to walk Gresham too.  Thus a possibility of walking 7 YREs in 6 days.  For those of you whom may not have been to Glenns Ferry, the starting point is a winery with a very nice restaurant attached to it.  Prices are: single $783, doubles $528, and triples $463.  We start loading in Taylorsville, then Salt Lake City , and Roy .  Some members of the Boise club may join us at the hotel in Nampa .  The prices for them will be single $477, doubles $330, triples $286.  Deposits of $100 per person is due by March 20.  These prices are based upon 24 participants.  If more people join us then the price drops.  I give refunds on the bus.  If you desire more information send email to cl2walk@yahoo.com.

Helper, Utah Aug 16 10k walk

Last summer we explored the little town of Helper , Utah .  It is located 6 miles of Price, Utah along State Road 6 and 3 hours drive from Salt Lake City .  On Aug 16 the town will host an Arts Festival.  We learned that 10,000 people visited it in the past.  It is a quaint little town partially hidden behind hills as you drive by on State Road 6.  We discovered that the name Helper derived from the railroad’s heyday.  Trains were built in Helper to help the trains go over the hills.  Today many of the railroad tracks are gone and what is left are wonderful trails for everyone to use.  Rating for the walk will be a 3 and it is credit only.  We will start in back of the Helper Mining and Railroad Museum on 294 South Main St .  Some of us are driving down on Friday to pre-walk & sign the trail.  We will be staying in Price because there are no hotels in Helper.  If you are planning to do the same thing, please book early.
